Most of us don’t want to deal with our fears. As believers we steer away from admitting we are fearful. Some of us believe that if we did admit we are afraid, we may be judged as having “little” faith. But what if we were honest about our struggles? What if the first step to healing was just that? Admitting, confessing, and just being okay with the fact that we all have fears. If we take a look at the Bible, we see numerous men and women who were brave, but at some point also struggled with fears, insecurities, and having “little” faith.

Today, I want to share a simple concept that I hope is the beginning of your healing journey. Knowledge on it’s own is useless, but combined with application it can lead to wisdom. So, let’s jump right in. Oh, and if you see any typos on today’s post, I’m fighting a cold this morning and high on Mucinex. Give this gal some grace.

For Those Who Feel Invisible

E55-For Those Who Feel InvisibleI was chatting with a friend and somehow the theme of feeling invisible came up. Since my move to TX, I’ve had the recurring theme of feeling invisible, ignored, and disregarded. We both agreed that it feels like rejection. And it hurts real bad when it’s a friend, family member, or someone close to you.

Let me clarify. There’s been numerous situations (too many to keep track) in which I’ve either asked a friend for feedback, support, and help in a certain area.

And nothing.

My emails are ignored. People don’t have time to meet. I get the typical response, “I’ll look into it,” or… “I’ll get back to you.”

Has this ever happened to you? You ask for help (in one form or another) and you get nothing? People (friends, acquaintances, family, co-workers, etc.) will in one way or another disappoint you. They just will. And you will disappoint them. For the past year and a half, this has been the recurring theme. I was telling my friend how this really challenged me on so many levels. I’ve even had moments of doubting God’s purpose for my life.

Hostage to Fear or Host to the Holy Spirit?

E54-Hostage or HostHave you ever felt so overwhelmed by the difficulties of life that you find yourself feeling hopeless? Maybe even feel like quitting?

Today I want to share a concept that has profoundly transformed the way I view “troubles.”

Jesus came to set us free. We are meant to live in freedom, not held hostage by our egos. John 8:31-32 ~ So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Will you be held hostage by the beliefs of your ego or will you freely host the Holy Spirit and allow Him to lead the way to freedom?

We must allow the Holy Spirit to take over… to lead… But we must be willing to host the Holy Spirit and say no to being hostage to the ego’s lies.

How to Complain Less and Appreciate More

E53- 5 Alternatives to ComplainingEveryone complains. It feels good to get it off our chest. Plus, when others are willing to hear us out and validate our pain, it helps us feel human and “normal.” But there’s a huge difference between venting and complaining. Although I believe they are both unproductive, venting seems to be a one time deal, while complaining a chronic issue.

We all have people that complain about the little things and make them seem bigger than they are. Mine is a four and a half little guy who’s job seems to complain about everything these days. And let’s be honest, it’s annoying. Hearing him complain and point out what’s wrong is draining and frustrating.

But what happens when you’re the one complaining? What’s one to do then? Worst yet, what if everyone around you is done with hearing your rants and vents?

Friend, I was in that predicament last year. I got stuck in  a rut of complaining about my circumstances. It became evident that I was focusing on the lack and wants vs. appreciating what I did have. Can you relate? I sure hope so.

And because I’ve been there more than I’d like to admit, I learned a couple things about how to stop complaining and appreciate the blessing of now {this moment}. On today’s episode, I share five alternatives to complaining that will help shift your perspective into one of appreciation.

Why in the world would I want to do a 40-day fear detox? Believe me, I was hesitant and a bit resistant. But the Holy Spirit kept tugging at me to take time and identify my fears {little ones and big ones} and learn to surrender them.

Truth is, it’s the best investment I’ve made in a long time. We’re so quick to jump on products that help us lose weight, get rid of wrinkles, and bring instant gratification. But a fear detox? Not so popular. But then again, I’ve never been one to follow crowds.

And the results? One word ~ Wow. I can truly say it was not a sacrifice, it was not hard, it was not exhausting… it was simple, it was powerful, and wonderful. Here’s the secret: the Holy Spirit is gentle and wants to show us the way. He won’t push us to do something we don’t want to or we are not ready for.

On today’s episode, I share five life lessons I learned from my 40-day fear detox. My goal is that you are inspired to be attuned to the Holy Spirit’s prompting in your life.
