every warrior needs a battle plan

Welcome!

For years, I approached God with a list of problems; situations and people I wanted Him to change. My prayers focused on what He could do for me. It’s easy to point out what’s wrong, but it takes a shift in perspective to see the positive in a situation, the good in others, and to have faith in the midst of chaos. Instead of feeling refreshed and confident as I prayed, I experienced discouragement and frustration with myself and God.

Then Papa showed me that warriors don’t pray with problems. Warriors first pray for answers; then we pray with His truth, His promises and His Word. That was a game changer. My confidence in Him boosted and my faith increased. I realized that before He changes others or my circumstances, prayer must change me first.

In Ephesians 6:10-18, we’re told to put the armor of God. I love how Paul uses the image of a warrior. This strong warrior is ready for battle and ready to fight against the “spiritual forces.” In Romans 12:2, we are reminded we must “not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

The key word is renewal.

Miriam Webster defines renewal as:

  • the act of continuing in force for a new period
  • the state of being made new, fresh, or strong again
  • something renewed

Renewal of the mind is a continuum, a choice we make to perceive the way God sees.

With this new knowledge, I realized I needed something to help me practice what it means to renew… to see life from God’s perspective. Hence, the Warrior Journal. My hope is that meditating on a warrior mindset, a fight verse, and recognizing pieces of evidence of God’s grace will help you focus on His truth and promises for your life.

As warriors, we resolve:

  • To persevere through challenges and fight the good fight.
  • To focus on the Spiritual (what I cannot see, but know is there).
  • To grow deep roots in Jesus, who brings clarity, truth, and peace.

I would love for you to join me on this journey.
