Mindset #4 focused on walking our territory; we walked our homes, prayed over our children, family, and neighbors. We understand that being vigilant about our homes is of utmost importance.
There’s no doubt that examining our emotional temperature will help us live the warrior life fearlessly. For this reason, this week’s mindset is focused on our inward territory; our thoughts, feelings, and how they influence our behaviors.
I firmly believe that one way the Lord shapes and molds our character is by bringing our thoughts and hearts to Him. Not with shame or guilt, but expecting God’s love to penetrate the deepest transformation.
In Psalm 139:23-24, King David models for us how to come before the Lord, pause, and ask God to examine our hearts.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!” Psalm 139:23-24 (ESV)
Because thoughts feed our underlying beliefs, which weaken or strengthen our identity, it’s a good idea to check in daily and notice our thoughts and feelings.
What’s helped me change my inner temperature is saying, “Holy Spirit, please come in and take over. Show me what you see.” Warrior, He will show you. He’ll help you replace the negative thoughts and feelings with His truth.
